In the village there is bicycle hire, guided walks. Great evenings out (4 bars) with cheap drinks and free tapas. Free internet close by, also shops, bank, etc. This stunning lush valley, famed for it’s almond blossom springtime, is surrounded by high mountains. The village reflects a simple and timeless agricultural lifestyle. Step back into the past and enjoy the mules, harvesting, charcoal preparation and fiestas. Despite Southern Spain being fairly dry, this region enjoys a river that runs in all seasons which is very refreshing in the summer. The two fiestas are in early October and in mid January. The winter one being the main one. It is a fire fiesta, which attracts people from far and wide. Agriculture here is mostly centred around almonds and olives. Almonds are harvested in the autumn, olives in the winter. In the spring we plough and enjoy the beautiful almond blossom. In summer we rest a little and chill out in the large town swimming pool. The town is well serviced with 3 small supermarkets, a bank, pharmacy, post office and medical centre. The market comes twice a month. From the village you can set out on foot for stunning walks or bike rides on the Contraviesa mountains or for the more adventurous, the Sierra Nevada.

The colourful multicultural market town, Orgiva, with bars, shops, restaurants and swimming pools (market on thursdays), is 25 minutes by bus or car and Mediterranean beaches are 40 mins to the south. By car or bus you can explore the Alpujarras, including the pristine ‘White Villages’ Bubion, Capileira and Pampaneira where you can shop for rugs, pottery and local delights to your hearts content.
